Mijas is a large municipal area bordering Marbella on the eastern side that encompasses several different residential areas. The main town and seat of the municipal authority is Mijas Pueblo, a very pretty white Andalusian mountain village overlooking Fuengirola and the Costa del Sol from a height of 430 metres.
Famous for its restaurants, cafés and craft shops, Mijas Pueblo is the cultural reference for residents in the area, which also comprises a large rustic zone stretching down from here to the sea, and running roughly parallel to Mijas Golf, a residential and resort area concentrated along a series of excellent golf courses.
This area continues onwards into the hillier terrain of La Cala Golf, a residential golf resort close to the coast, where the picturesque little seaside village of La Cala de Mijas forms the local hub for residential and second home suburbs such as Riviera del Sol and Calahonda. The coastline here is marked by some of the prettiest coves and little beaches, ensuring that Mijas offers just about everything…
Stylish new homes
Set roughly between Fuengirola and Marbella, from which it is ten and fifteen minutes removed respectively, Mijas Costa, as the coastal area is known, is also less than half an hour removed from Málaga and its international airport, making this perhaps the most centrally and conveniently located part of the Costa del Sol.
Although already well-established since the 1970s, Mijas Costa still offers the space and opportunities for the creation of stylish modern homes, and this, in combination with excellent value for money, has made it popular with today’s buyers. It is thanks to the availability of luxury modern property for sale in Mijas Costa that Marbella’s refinement and lifestyle are now extending outwards into an increasingly fashionable part of the Costa del Sol that offers a quality living and excellent investment potential.
