The summer season in Marbella brings with it a whole calendar of events that range from food festivals and farmers’ markets to cultural and sports events, charity gala dinners, fashion shows and of course a longstanding tradition of concerts.
This year will be a bumper one, as we return to normality after two years overshadowed by Covid, and people are keen to make up for lost time. The Costa del Sol is alive and well in both tourism and real estate terms, and this year there is an offer of live music events to match.
June already kicked off with Simply Red’s return to the atmospheric setting at the foot of Sohail Castle in Fuengirola, with more top local and international acts lined up for the rest of the month all the way to September:
Marbella Arena
The former bullring at the spot where Puerto Banús and Nueva Andalucía meet will feature the Undercover Festival from the 24th to 26th of June, followed by a Beethoven concert under the conduction of Zubin Metha on 20th July, Sister Sledge on the 30th, UB40 featuring Ali Campbell on 6th August and closing off with Thomas Helmig on the 2nd and 3rd of September.
More summer concert venues
Marc Anthony will also be starring at the Mare Nostrum Festival in Fuengirola on 25th June, followed by Alejandro Sanz on 1st July, with the annual Starlite Festival in the foothills of La Concha Mountain featuring the likes of Jason Derulo (22nd June), Diana Ross (6th July), Jessie J (22nd July), Christina Aguilera (25th July) and Luis Fonsi of ‘Despasito’ on 22nd August.
It won’t all be over in August either, as La Cala de Mijas hosts its own music festival on the first three days of September, with the likes of the Arctic Monkeys, The Chemical Brothers, Kraftwerk, Röyksopp and Liam Gallagher of Oasis. Moreover, for those who want to stay close by during the three days and really enjoy the festival atmosphere there are camping and glamping options nearby.
Enjoy a sizzling summer season this year on the shores of the Costa del Sol – from classical concerts and evergreen acts to the latest rock, pop and Latino music in a variety of festivals that help give the Marbella region its unique summer vibe.
