Guadalmina is a suburb of Marbella located right on the border between San Pedro Alcántara and the municipality of Estepona, and geographically defined by the north and south courses of the Royal Club de Golf Guadalmina. The south course is more challenging to play and was the first to be built in Marbella in the 1950s, while the north course, opened in 1973, is kinder to less experienced players.
Guadalmina Golf Club prides itself on its international membership representing more than 17 different nationalities who enjoy the club’s social scene, swimming pool, tennis and padel courts, and cafeteria.
Divided also by the A7 dual carriageway, Guadalmina’s north section, Guadalmina Alta, features a large commercial area with different banks, bars, vets, pharmacy, offices, interior designers and supermarkets to choose from. Some of the amazing restaurants and cafés on offer include La Gazzetta pizzeria-trattoria (try their delicious brasaola with truffle oil), d’Alicia cake shop and perennial favourite El Asador de Guadalmina, a specialist in tapas and meat dishes. If you prefer the more hands on approach, make sure you check out the Food Room, a cooking and tasting school with workshops for adults and children who love food!
As a favourite area among full time residents as well as holiday makers, there is great choice of properties in Guadalmina. The area around the commercial centre in Guadalmina Alta is home to many different complexes offering two, three and four bedroom apartments, duplexes and townhouses, often with golf views. Slightly further inland, a selection of villas differing in size and style surrounds the fairways of the north course. Often occupying smaller plots, some of the more mature villas have been built on one level, appealing to older property owners.
To the south, Guadalmina Baja extends down to the sea where the Guadalmina Spa and Golf Resort dominates the seafront. It’s a popular venue for weddings and other events, and a beautiful place to stay for a holiday or long weekend.
Guadalmina Baja also offers a mix of apartments and townhouse complexes, interspersed with elegant villas hidden behind walls of bougainvillea. It’s where you can find some of the most beautiful beachside mansions in Marbella, built on large plots of up to 5.000m2.
Whether you’re headed east or west, Guadalmina’s central location is ideal for families with regular drives to school or work. San Pedro Alcántara is just a couple of minutes away while Puerto Banús and Marbella town to the east, and Estepona to the west can be easily accessed by car or public transport. It remains a very popular destination and continues to grow in favour as a place to own a luxury Marbella villa or apartment.
