It’s official. Not only is Marbella popular among owners of luxury cars, it’s also highly appreciated by the top brands themselves. After Audi earlier in the year, it has now been announced that another major international luxury car manufacturer – Mercedes Benz – has chosen Marbella as the global launch pad of its newest upmarket model.
November launch at Marbella’s new-look Conference Centre
The unveiling will take place from 5th to 25th November at the Palacio de Congresos convention centre at the heart of Marbella – where the Golden Mile meets the main Ricardo Soriano Avenue. The facility, which already has a rich tradition of hosting major events, has undergone significant renovation work and improvements in recent months, and this is hailed as one of the reasons why the German carmaker has decided to host this prestigious event in Marbella.
The fantastic light, beautiful natural setting and glamorous reputation of Marbella, not to mention a large number of high net worth individuals known to enjoy beautiful cars, formed the other important considerations that put this region ahead of a host of potential international candidates. Quite apart from the cache of an event like this, its scale also makes it of major economic interest. The entire process will take 20 days, attract hundreds of visitors from two dozen countries and involve over 2,800 hotel stays.
The entire town and its surroundings will benefit greatly in terms of income and exposure, a fact that has not escaped Marbella’s mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, who is delighted that Marbella has achieved this coup. It comes in the same year that Audi brought over 3,000 guests from 120 countries to Marbella in an even larger but equally prestigious event earlier in the year – and while both are private corporate events not open to the general public, the combined income is expected to exceed €10 million.
More than this, it is excellent recognition that Marbella ranks among the most glamorous resort destinations in the world, and for this reason is the kind of place that top luxury brands such as Mercedes Benz and Audi choose to be associated with it.
