The many faces of Elviria, Marbella

Known for its beautiful white sandy beaches, the eastern Marbella district of Elviria attracts visitors and residents in equal measure. Full-time resident families enjoy the convenience of having all the facilities they require close at hand, while holidaymakers appreciate the superb range of shops and restaurants on offer, ensuring they can experience a different cuisine and ambience every night of the week.

The main commercial area is to be found alongside the A7 dual carriageway. It’s home to many different shops, offices, banks, bars, cafés, restaurants and supermarkets, and is a great meeting place. A few minutes further inland, the beautifully maintained Santa María Golf Course is just one example of the sporting facilities you can find in Elviria. Popular with its members for its clubhouse as well as its fairways, Santa María offers tennis and bowling to regulars as well as the thousands who visit on golfing holidays each year.

Santa María Golf is lined by attractive complexes of apartments, some aimed at the tourist market while others tend to entice more long term occupants. As you climb higher up the hill away from the main road, the extraordinary views of the Mediterreanean, Gibraltar and North Africa take your breath away, and it is here that you will find some of the most desirable luxury apartments, townhouses, villas and mansions of Elviria. Ranging from the very traditional to the über modern, the eclectic mix of Elviria’s architectural styles further enhances the area.

Greenlife Golf, with its Michelin starred restaurant El Lago, is located slightly to the west, as is the Royal Tennis Club Marbella, which hosts many private and charitable events as well as welcoming those wanting to play tennis, padel, billiards or get fit in the gym or pool.

Several leading international schools are also based in Elviria, adding to the convenience for those families who decide to settle. The English International College, Colegio ECOS (Christian bilingual school) and the German School are all highly regarded, as are the local Spanish state schools Platero and IES Dunas de las Chapas.

On the seaside of the A7, Elviria’s beach restaurants, clubs and chiringuitos are frequented by visitors from all along the Costa del Sol. The Beach House, Nikki Beach and the Don Carlos Hotel are just a few of the highlights. This part of the district feels more laid back ‒ perhaps because of its proximity to those stunning beaches and the sparkling Mediterranean.

Elviria has much to offer all of its visitors. It’s within easy reach of Málaga airport (35 minutes), the centre of Marbella’s historic old town, the hospital and main Marbella commercial centre, so entices a healthy mix of nationalities and ages to create a cosmopolitan and thriving area for all to enjoy.
