Tasting the good life in Marbella

Those who buy properties in Marbella and regularly visit the area usually belong to a group of people with discerning tastes. Able to choose their international destinations, they often hail from London, Paris or other parts of Northern Europe, where they expect the highest standards when it comes to service, shopping and also dining.

Fortunately, where Marbella was once home to a small number of excellent restaurants this has over the past decade or two grown to the point where it is now a gastronomic destination in its own right, with fine dining choices throughout the area covering a very wide range of cuisines, ambiences, settings and even budgets.

This has also led to the creation of a number of dining hotspots developing in Marbella, including the Golden Mile, Marbella’s historic and richly ambient Old Town and the beachside area just west of Estepona, where a cluster of deluxe eateries in Laguna Village and the Kempinski Resort Hotel is raising the standard of dining on the New Golden Mile.

Within the original Golden Mile it is very much centred upon the Puente Romano Hotel, where the two restaurants by double Michelin-star chef are the stellar attractions among many first-class options that cover Spanish, classical French, Italian, Asian and other kitchens. Just down the road in central Marbella’s historic quarter is another culinary centre, adding to those dotted across the Costa del Sol.

Homeowners in this area will therefore never be far away from their favourite restaurants and food experiences, as areas such as Sierra Blanca, Cascada de Camoján, Los Monteros, Nueva Andalucía and Guadalmina are between five and ten minutes away from five-star dining. Even the hillside country clubs of La Zagaleta and El Madroñal are just a short distance away from some of the best cuisine in southern Europe.
