Nueva Andalucía is the largest suburb of Marbella, and has long been one of the most popular residential areas in this region for many reasons: it is close to the lively marina of Puerto Banús and just a few more minutes to the diverse amenities of Marbella as well as the schools, shops and bars in the immediate vicinity. With such thriving hotspots nearby, it is perhaps surprising that this area is so peaceful and calm. Large villas and gated apartment complexes reside in the green valleys, which account for the other reason this area is so popular: the presence of some of the best golf courses on the Costa del Sol. Locally, the area is known as the Costa del Golf for this very reason, with Los Naranjos being one of the most popular districts.

Los Naranjos is known for the golf course designed by celebrated American course designer, Robert Trent Jones. Built in 1977, it has seen many changes in the residential area that surrounds it. Now famous as the ‘Golf Valley’ this part of Nueva Andalucía is one of the most popular of the Marbella region and rightly so. There is a wide range of local amenities all within a stones’ throw – supermarkets, bars, restaurants, boutiques – and this is without taking into account the fact that both Marbella and Puerto Banús are a short drive away.

The Los Flamingos resort lies west of San Pedro Alcántara, towards the town of Estepona and is easily accessible from the N340 main coastal road. Officially, it comes under the municipality of Benahavís, but don’t follow the signs for this mountain village or you will find you have taken an unnecessary detour.

When it is time to kick back and relax after a lifetime of working, it is hard to think of a better place to move to than Marbella. Marbella is known for its glamorous lifestyle and for being the holiday destination of world famous celebrities.

Long overshadowed by its glamorous neighbour, Marbella, Estepona is a charming coastal town that is now really coming into its own. Though it has been popular with foreign tourists, homeowners and residents for some time, Estepona still retains an authentic Andalusian look and ambience about it.

Ever since Michelle Obama decided she needed a little Costa del Sol sunshine while Barak was attending meetings in Spain, the Villa Padierna six-star hotel has been placed firmly on the map. Indeed, Villa 603 where she stayed has been renamed the ‘Villa Obama’.
