Long before Marbella was known there was a private hunting estate set within an idyllic area of outstanding natural beauty. The property encompassed dozens of hectares of land in the hills above San Pedro Alcántara, a small town close to Marbella, from where it offered wonderful views of the wooded mountains, the Mediterranean Sea and the deep blue Andalusian skies.

Marbella is sufficiently big to have different areas each with their own setting, property types, price range and characteristics. Different parts of Marbella suit different lifestyles, so if you want to be close to all amenities and nightlife, Puerto Banús is a good place to be. People who like being surrounded by a more authentically Spanish ambience seek homes nearer the downtown area of Marbella, while others enjoy the country club environment of El Madroñal, La Zagaleta, Los Flamingos or La Quinta.

Thanks to its setting and micro-climate, Marbesa was, in fact, one of the first coastal sections of Marbella to be ‘discovered’ and developed. This happened at a time when there was still a lot of open shoreline, so where later frontline beach areas in Marbella became increasingly the focus of apartments and hotels, property development in Marbesa is unusually characterised by private villas situated within a short stroll of some of the area’s best sandy beaches.

La Resina, which is on the New Golden Mile and falls under the Estepona municipality, is fast becoming a highly desirable residential area. Located on the slopes above the New Golden Mile, it is within a few minutes drive of the bustling town of Estepona with all its amenities, such as supermarkets, international schools, hospitals and numerous other leisure activities, including Estepona tennis club and golf.

Situated close to Río Real and Los Monteros, the peaceful residential area of Santa Clara is one of the most prestigious on the east side of Marbella. Here, a few hundred metres inland from the finest beaches and dunes in the region, residents enjoy a country club environment with villas ranged around the 18-hole golf course of the same name. Santa Clara’s clubhouse is an elegant centre with excellent golf facilities, as well as a fine restaurant, café and lounge area, not to mention driving range, pro shop and on-site coaching.

Las Brisas is one of the most desirable residential areas in Nueva Andalucía. Situated in its more northerly quarter, Las Brisas is renowned for its stunning villas, its greenery and tranquillity. Moreover, It is also valued by many residents because of its proximity to the famous Las Brisas Golf Club, and forms part of Marbella’s Golf Valley.
